This website is owned by Station House Nurseries. We have run this family business since 1966 and it is now under the sole ownership of Sion, the Son of our Founder, Ivor Jones. We take pride in supplying plants by post – our customers include The National Trust, Internationally important Botanic Gardens, Prisons, Stately homes and National Dahlia Growing Champions.
If you wish to place an order please use our secure facility. Please indicate by use of the drop down box on the checkout page to indicate the week that you would like delivery of your order. Please bear in mind that all dates are approximate and subject to weather conditions. Please read these terms and conditions carefully.
How to place an order
Simply choose the items you wish to buy and add them to the shopping cart. When your selection is complete just click on the “Checkout” and add the details requested, i.e. your name, address, email, telephone number, delivery week, together with any special requirements, i.e. “Please leave behind shed if out”.
If you prefer to pay by cheque please print out your order and send it to us with your payment to:

The checkout page uses Paypal and Stripe as fully secure third party payment providers (more details below). Once you have completed all required fields and pressed the “Pay securely” button you will be sent an automated e-mail response. This will indicate we have received your order.
Once you have placed your order you will receive an automated email response quoting your unique order number. To keep postage costs to a minimum, if you decide to order further items at a later date please add in the notes section of your order “Please ship with order number XXXX”. This will save you paying for two lots of postage. Please quote your order number on any communication you have with us.

Our Guarantee to you
To ensure your plants reach you in first class condition we use Royal Mail to ensure that the plants are delivered promptly. Please ensure that any special delivery instructions are clearly marked on your order. If you are not happy with the condition of any plants that have been sent by us we are happy to offer you a full refund of all costs or replacement if available, once we have received the plants back from you. All plants are propagated here and there may be delay of up to three weeks if we have to take additional cuttings.
Please note we supply cuttings, not tubers.
Our returns policy
You are protected under the EU Distance Selling Directive and are entitled to cancel your order within 7 working days for a full refund including cost of delivery. Please contact us by e-mail or phone quoting your order number and postcode. Your refund will be paid within 30 days.
If you have simply changed your mind after the order has been sent to you, and decided you no longer want the plants, then you are wholly responsible for the return to us of the plants and postage, before a refund can be made to you.
We accept no responsibility for loss or damage when returning plants and therefore we would strongly advise you to take out adequate insurance.
Last date for ordering:
Our latest date for ordering specific varieties of Dahlia cuttings is the end of Week 16. After this date we are only able to accept orders on the understanding that substitutes are acceptable.
We endeavour to keep customers advised if a particular variety is out of stock and the reason why by indicating this on our website. However, if a particular variety becomes out of stock when we are due to dispatch, we reserve the right to make suitable substitutions unless specifically requested not to. Please select the how you want us to substitute box on the order to ensure that your request is adhered to. We cannot take any responsibility for customers not advising us that they will not accept substitutions unless they have done so
Delivery of your order
Please indicate the week on which you would like your order dispatched. This forms part of the order. We will endeavour to supply as near to the date requested as possible but please be aware that this may not always be possible due to inclement weather conditions, etc. Delivery notification emails are sent as your order is despatched notifying you that the order is complete.
We reserve the right to send part of your order if there is a delay on sending some of the plants. Please indicate clearly on the order notes if this is not acceptable to you.
Please advise us in advance if there are any dates that you are not able to take delivery of your order i.e. away from home, holiday, etc.
We deliver to all addresses with a UK postcode.
£6.00 per order sent via Royal Mail 24 hour service
Orders in excess of 20 plants are sent by 24 hour courier and may need signing for.
For all orders if you have a safe place the order can be left please indicate this in your order instructions.
Orders to EU Countries
In compliance with current EU legislation, we are we are able to export Dahlia cuttings to all EU members.
If this situation changes we will advertise the new regulations on our website. We cannot be held responsible for any orders not supplied due to changes in UK legislation.
Carriage for orders to Europe- Small orders of up to 20 plants are sent out royal mail international tracked and signed, larger orders go via DHL international.
The rates for deliveries in excess of 20 plants is as below along with the expected transit times from the nursery.

Orders to non EU Countries
We are currently unable to export Dahlia cuttings to the rest of the world. However, if the legislation changes we will advertise it on our website together with shipping charges. Please note that supply of permits for import and Certificats Phitosanitaire will be at the buyers’ expense.
Collection of orders from Station House Nursery
We welcome customers to collect their orders directly from our Nursery. Please clearly mark on your order “Collection” together with the date required.
If you decide you would like to collect your order after placing it, please email us before the scheduled delivery date and two days prior to the date of your visit in order that we may have your plants ready. During April, May and June we may not be able to produce your order without prior notification of your visit. Please note we are not liable for the condition of plants not collected on the date requested.

This policy defines how we will use your personal data when you use our website to shop. In simple and straightforward terms:-
We collect the following data about you: Your name, address, email address, phone number and order details for the purpose of buying dahlia plants
Your name, contact details and any other information you provide to us when making an enquiry, placing an order, making a purchase or making a complaint. This can be done on our premises, over the telephone or by email.
You can opt out of receiving emails from us at any time by simply emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with your request.
We may capture images of you and your vehicle on our CCTV system if you visit our premises on Station Road, Burton, South Wirral, Cheshire, CH64 5SD. This system is in place for the safety and security of our staff and business premises. We may use CCTV images to assist the Police, insurance companies or any other relevant authorities to assist in tackling crime or providing information in fraud investigations.
If you place an order online we will use the information you provide by email or telephone necessary to fulfill your purchase.
We do not collect any IP addresses
If you make an enquiry, place an order, or lodge a complaint with us we will only use the information you provide to supply the plants you have requested, to process the payment for the items or to provide you with customer service as required.
We may share your data with selected third parties including our email platform provider, our system management provider and our payment providers. We undertake due diligence with all our third parties to ensure that they are GDPR compliant.
We do not transfer your data outside the UK or EEA. However, personal data you supply through our website may be sent to servers anywhere in the world. It may be processed anywhere in the world including areas outside the EEA.

All our varieties have been tested here at Station House Nurseries and they are supplied with our complete assurance.
Classification: The classification on Dahlias is based on the latest NDS Classified Directory.
Some varieties of recent introduction have not yet been classified, so we have included them in what we consider to be the correct classification after trial on the nursery.
All orders are sent out as Dahlia cuttings:
These are strongly rooted and available for delivery from the end of March until mid June. Whilst we make every effort to send out your order in the week you indicate please note that sometimes due to situations beyond our control this is not possible. Weather conditions play an important role in rooting cuttings and a spell of inclement weather may delay our sending out orders in the specified weeks. All Dahlias are propagated here by our expert team of growers and will be dispatched to you in first class condition. We reserve the right to make substitutions where plants ordered are not available unless you specifically request “NO SUBSTITUTIONS” on your order. If the varieties ordered are not available we will offer you a refund.
We use Paypal and Stripe as third party payment services. As one of the largest payment providers in the UK they are compliant to the highest level in payment card industry data security standards (PCI DSS). This ensures that the information you enter is safe and secure, we do not capture or store any of your card details as once entered into the payment page all sensitive data is fully encrypted and sent to the banks for processing.
